Triangle 10ft. Party Sail

I purchased this in red to block the late afternoon sun that was making it impossible to spend time on my patio. It was just to hot to go out to grill dinner or just sit outside and enjoy summer. This "sail" is made from a strong fabric/plastic weave that can withstand weather conditions. I have a small patio area and no trees; but using some creativity it is up and now we can spend more time outside. I would recommend this item to others, but think about how/where it will be used.

I put 2 of these up this weekend to use on my sun-drenched deck in NYC. They work amazingly well! Perfect amount of shade without loosing the warmth of the sun.

We overlapped the 2 colors for a fun effect. Everyone was impressed! I suggest getting carabiners for each corner so they are easy put uptake down.

I would have gone for gentler colors, but a red, yellow green combo on my long narrow balcony actually works very well. The yellow looks a light green against a blue sky and is the mildest of the three. I put two broom handle masts on the open side with an eye bolt in the top and spring clips to lock them to the sails. Bought some natural string for the building side, so the very white tie-downs don't look so conspicuous, and so they wont' rot in the strong sun. They go through eye bolts in the beams, then to tie-down cleats. That way, I was able to hold two sail ends at a time to adjust their trim before cinching them tight. All I need now are some nautical pulleys and I'm ready to sail!

Several reviewers say the 3 meter is too small, but I had a narrow space and used three, point out, point in, point out to give significant shade with sunny gaps in between. I'll un-clip one to take camping when I think a wind-break or sun shade will be useful. The whole job cost less than $100 and about a day to set up (mostly hardware shopping). A friend who has had this brand for many years says they last well, so no hesitation about recommending it. Note that there are eye holes in the corners, and not the higher quality triangular metal loops shown in one of the set-up pictures. Also, each sail has a thick seam where the fabric was joined near one of the points. The brand and care labels add a bit of clutter too.

This is an inexpensive way of adding shade to an small open space. A friend of mine has some that are many years old and show no sign of degrading under the sun's radiation. However, hers have nice triangular metal loops at the corner, while now they have cheaper eyelets that are harder to thread a hitch through. The strings are cheap polyester which probably will turn to fluff in the hot California sunshine, so I replaced with thicker natural fiber rope (sisal I think), which also looks better.

I had great difficulty deciding which color to get and opted for green because it seemed the least dazzling. Then I went back and got a red and yellow, to make a three-triangle sequence along my long balcony: point out, point in, point out. This required two broom handles on the open side, and eye hooks on the beams of the building. Now its done, it provides a comfortable respite from the fierce summer sun, and is now my favorite spot in the whole residence.

Gentler colors would be preferred, or extreme colors like someone suggested purple. Why not white? The privacy fabric used on chain-link in building sites is made from a similar weave of fabric, so maybe they are trying to differentiate themselves from construction supplies. This does make me think that the cloth itself is very durable.

I have quick-release hitches on the corners of all mine, so I can undo them and take them inside in case of extreme weather (Santa Ana winds), or to take camping, with support poles and tent pegs. They have been rained on a few times, and the water drains right through, and I think they would stand up to the wind OK, but my improvised masts might not.

Party Sail is a great addition to our summer outdoor decor! Added the pop of color as well as giving coverage from sun. Used this as a replacement for torn gazebo cover. Affordable.

This offers just the right amount of shade for my air conditioner on hot summer days! Thinking of purchasing another one for camping trips.

Ordered 2 different colors. Looks fabulous. Came with unexpected cord for hanging.

These are a good idea, just be sure you have the right place to hang them. We had a little difficulty trying to hang at my daughters apartment patio. I'm sure their perfect when there's trees.

This sail came just as described. It's easy to use and does a good job screening the sun. I would recommend this product.
