"Hello Rina, the 15.8" or 23.6" is the length from one end of the bar or rail to the other end. The rail thickness is approximately 1 centimeter. The actual diameter of those round parts would be 1 to 1.2 inches."Laronda from Wayfair

There are so few small towel rails out there -- and I needed one to go on a 20" wall -- so this fit the bill perfectly.
