Nice desk This is a nice desk. The wood is beautiful looking, but the desk top marks quite easily. The desk is sturdy, but The desk top is suitable only for easy use. |

Excellent Though Pricey Furniture I debated on giving this furniture 4 or 5 stars. [...]I bought the following Sequel Desk components:1) Desk2) Return3) Two Drawer File Cabinet 4) Three Drawer File Cabinet5) Mobile CPU Cabinet6) Storage CabinetI use these products for my office. The setup I bought provides excellent storage space for everything I need in my office except books for which I purchased a separate bookshelf that matches the finish on Sequel components. These components were very easy to put together. The finish on these products is very nice. I ordered mine in espresso and I am very happy with how it looks with the black tempered glass. The desk components fit together extremely well. The design of the desk really does allow for the cables to be hidden from view. Previous to this my cables snaked all over the floor and looked messy. Now I have somewhere to route and/or hide the cables. The desk has a minimalist look which is visually pleasing, while offering a tremendous amount of surface desk space, especially if you chain many components together like I have done. The risers on the bottoms of the components allow you to correct for floor or furniture inconsistencies that cause alignment issues so that all of the components fit together well for a flat and level surface. You can chain together as many components as you have space for in your office and create a desk space as large as you like while maintaining an elegant minimalist look for your office space. One down side thus far is that some of the pieces have very minor alignment issues. For instance, my two drawer file cabinet drawers are slightly misaligned with each other. These misalignments in my setup have been as much as a little over 1/16th of an inch--Yes, tiny I know, but this furniture is expensive compared to most desk sets so I felt it was worth the mentioning the issue considering the price point. I don't think most people would notice this issue unless looking for it. I don't think it detracts from the furniture enough to return the items and I debated on whether I should take a star off for this issue, but it is likely an industry standard to allow a small amount of misalignment and 1/16th of an inch is small. If I could take a half a star off I would, but I don't think it is worth taking an entire star off, and it does not take away from how much I like the set of furniture. Thus, I decided to leave it at 5 stars.A second down side is that the pull out drawer is not designed for large size keyboards. You can definitely fit smaller sized keyboards and mice, but the larger sizes will need to be moved when closing the drawer. This does not bother me because I don't need a large keyboard, and the Mac keyboards and mice that I use fit perfectly fine in the front area. I do keep a larger mouse in the back area for when I play online games (which I play from time to time...). Larger sized keyboards, such as the ridiculously large gaming keyboards made by some companies, will not fit in the front or back of the drawer. Only a small number of people use keyboards this big, and for those who don't care about keyboard size or ergonomic keyboards, as I imagine these also might not fit, should have no problem. Likewise, there are small size keyboards available for every computer operating system if a smaller one is needed. I imagine buying a smaller keyboard will not be an issue for anyone who can afford to buy these desk pieces. There were also issues with one of the magnetic strips not being strong enough [...] and BDI sent me a bag full of the magnetic strips. Magnets can lose charge over time, so this bag should cover me for the next few decades if I don't redesign my office before then... In any case, I thought that interaction summed up the customer support well for both companies; they were both more than willing to fix whatever problems I had called to inquire about.I was not compensated an any way for this review. I am hoping that offering this review will help other people who are deciding on whether to buy this furniture that it is worth the expense. I would definitely buy this furniture again, and in five or six years when I need to design an office in the city near my house for a private practice, I plan on looking into buying more BDI furniture from Wayfair! Hopefully this review will garner both companies additional funds to keep designing and stocking excellent furniture.Enjoy!!! |
