Artifort Little Apollo Chair by Patrick Norguet

The Little Apollo is the little brother of the ''big'' Apollo. Since its introduction in 2002, it was obvious that the Apollo would become Artifort's ''new classic''. The dining-room version exudes the same balance and harmony as its big brother. Balanced and open. Inviting. The Apollo is based on a foam-covered metal frame. The swiveling trumpet-shaped base is made of cast aluminum.

About the Designer

Patrick Norguet

Patrick Norguet  (1969 - )

Born in 1969, Patrick Norguet was educated at the Ecole Superieur de Design Industriel. Patrick Norguet has worked with designers like Hilton Mc Connico and Studio Naca. He has also collaborated with Louis Vuitton as a decorator, designing concepts for display windows and events. He more recently designed the showrooms for Renault Cars in Paris and Toiko and has designed furniture pieces for Cappellini and Artifort. Norguet's work shows rich sensitivity, with a feeling for what is substantial, and an eclecticism that testifies to a modern awareness, rational but also strongly related to the object and its environment. His interests in designing for different projects in variable circumstances are signs of Norguet's broad versatility.

About the Manufacturer

The foundations of Artifort were laid by Jules Wagemans. He set up business as an upholsterer in Maastricht in 1890. The name Artifort is derived from the Latin word ‘ars’ meaning art or knowledge, and ‘fortis’ meaning strong or powerful. The word ‘comfort’ is also reflected in this brand name. With big name designers such as Geoffrey Harcourt, Patrick Norguet, Kho Liang Ie and the French designer Pierre Paulin, many new techniques and constructions were introduced and great furniture designs became icons throughout the world. By the 1960's, internationally, the furniture seemed to be very much in demand, which resulted in enormous sales growth which has continued to boom to this day. Innovation remains the key factor to all of Artifort's designs; captivating to the eye and functional design play key roles in all of their most prized designs.
