About the Designer
Ben Van Berke & Caroline Bos Netherlands
In 1988 Ben van Berke and Caroline Bos opened the Van Berkel and Bos Architectuurbureau in Amsterdam and produced numerous works in the Netherlands including: the Remu Power Station and the Karbouw office building in Amersfoort; the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam; the Het Valkhof Museum at Nijmegen and railway station at Arnhem and many more. In 2001, Berkel and Bos won the international competition for the redevelopment of the former industrial area around the Ponte Parodi in Genoa, and in 2002 that for the new Mercedes Benz Museum in Stuttgart. They are now developing the design of the Music Theatre at Graz, Austria, and the enhancement project for the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, Connecticut. In 1998 Berkel and Bos founded the UN (United Net) Studio, an international multidisciplinary network to develop major large-scale planning projects, public works and urban infrastructures.
