Albin, Lisa

Inspired by a seminar at Haystack Mt. School of Crafts in Maine, designer Lisa Albin turned to children's furniture in 2005. She exhibited her Iglooplay prototypes at Brooklyn Designs and The International Contemporary Furniture Fair, winning a 2005 Good Design Award from The Chicago Athenaeum / Museum of Architecture and Design for the collection.

Through her practice, Lisa Albin Design, Albin also develops proposals for grade school classrooms and public spaces for children. Albin has taught at Parsons School of Design and has guest-lectured at Columbia University, School of Visual Arts and The Cooper-Hewitt Museum's after school program.

Albin earned her degree in architecture from The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). After working with architect Alexandre Chemetoff in Paris and artist Vito Acconci in Brooklyn, Albin spent the next ten years designing for films in New York (for such directors as Bette Gordon and Phil Joanou)and working at Pierce Allen on architectural and interior projects.
