Aalto, Aino

(1894-1949) It was in 1924 that Aino Marsio went to work at architect Alvar Aalto's office. The two fell in love, married and became partners in design as in life. In 1932, she beat out her husband in a design competition with her Aalto glasses that also won a gold medal at the Milan Triennale. The entire Aino Aalto collection is made for everyday use, and their simple and yet timeless design continues to be part of our life more than 60 years later.
