About the Manufacturer

Variér became its own company in 2006, when the Movement by Stokke collection of seating was separated from the juvenile collection of strollers, cribs and high chairs currently manufactured by Stokke. Since that time Varier has undertaken a fantastic journey. Varier is proud to continue offering the same outstanding iconic designs, quality and sustainable materials, while introducing fresh innovative designs paired with the latest fabric choices from popular vendors such as Kvadrat and Gabriel. Varier continues to grow its presence globally; today you can purchase the award winning seating collection in 36 different countries across the world. Varier’s success is embodied in a philosophy which they calls: A Human Idea. This is the concept of merging the knowledge of what is good for the human body (ergonomics), functionally and design.

This chair has saved me. It is a bit flimsy as reviews state (I am 140 lbs), but it is easy to tighten up. It's been so much better for me than my Aeron chair. I use it in different positions throughout the day (backwards, sideways, kneeling) which has helped tremendously with my tight hips and bulging disc.

Love my kneeling chair

from Huntington Beach, CA on 02/13/2015 – Verified Buyer

The chair is sturdy and definitely relieves the pressure from my sciatic nerve. I'm glad I got the optional backrest, it comes in handy. Also I love the look of the chair!

A more forgiving ergo-/knee-chair!

from Aliso Viejo, CA on 08/11/2015 – Verified Buyer

I've used other types/brands of knee-chairs before, but this one is an investment well worth it! I spend long stretches at my desk doing programming and design, and the way this chair rocks, flexes, and allows me to reposition myself easily and comfortably is simply smart ergonomics and design. The chair assembles quite easily, and the only tool needed (m5 hex-key) is provided and neatly stores underneath the seat-cushion. The materials are of high-quality, and the fit and finish are equally impressive. I though I'd miss the mobility of casters that my old model had, but adding the padded-strips (not visible normally) to the underside chair-rails allows me to slide back slightly on my tiled-floor, and protects the wooden chair-rails. Another plus, is the low-profile of the overall chair, which allows me to completely slide it under my desk when not in use.

Pros: Excellent design, materials, and craftsmanship; relieved my hints of sciatica; easy assembly.
Cons: The color combination I wanted was not in stock and readily available (Grey w/ Black, as above), so I settled for Black w/ Black.

Easy to assemble, comfortable and exactly what I was expecting.

simply a great design

from Gallatin, TN on 04/11/2012 – Verified Buyer

I had never had a kneeling chair and debated buying this one vs. one with wheels, but ultimately decided that this design offered a big advantage in that the rocker base allows me to shift position frequently while still maintaining a comfortable sitting position. I can sit on it all day without tiring, and it's been a big help to my back.

Variable Balans is working for me

from San Diego, CA on 07/07/2014 – Verified Buyer

I have a herniated disc and can not sit at all in regular chairs. This is working for me quite well and I believe that if I had used this instead of sitting for hours at my traditional computer chair I may have avoided this back trouble.

Best chair I have ever owned

from Bowie, Maryland on 03/25/2012

Have a scoliosis and have been using one for over 20 years. When my nieces were little and came over, they would argue over who got to sit in my chair. It helps me maintain my balance much better than a regular chair. We have since reapolstered the seat and pads because at the time, we couldn't find a replacement. It is great to see that they are still available.
