The 4 quart cast iron Staub round cocotte is the best size for most family meals from Hawthorn Woods, IL on 12/03/2015 – Verified Buyer
We have purchased two Staub 4 quart round cocottes - one for ourselves a year ago (in cherry red) and a second one (in matte black) to give to our son. The quality is excellent and its usefulness is outstanding. Clean-up is easy and storage of leftovers in the refrigerator or our cold garage in the winter is common. The lid fits just fine, and the base is level...no rocking due to uneveness. Presentation at the table is simple and elegant at the same time.
We have several other Staub pots (up to 9 quarts) including the decorative large pumpkin pot (no longer available), but this 4 quart cocotte is our favorite.

Pros: Durable finish, shape, size and weight, appearance, easy to clean, non-scorching and even cooking
Cons: I can't think of any reasons not to buy or use this Staub cocotte

Excellent sized Staub Cocette - 4 quart from Hawthorn Woods, IL on 12/11/2014 – Verified Buyer
We purchased the Staub 4-qt. Round Cocotte with Lid in Cherry Red color as an "add to the collection" item thinking it would look nice and perhaps be useful only when smaller portions were needed. But to our surprise, the 4 quart size is perfect for nearly all our meals requiring a baking or stove top pot. There are just two of us, of course, but even for a family of four this cast iron Dutch Oven would be perfect.

The lid fits perfect and because the size is "smaller" it can be easily set aside when stirring the contents of the pot.

I am very please with our Staub cookware in general, but this 4 quart round dutch oven is so much more convenient than originally imagined. The Cherry Red color goes well with our other Staub pieces in Grenadine color...there is no clash of colors.

Gorgeous dark blue! from New Hampshire on 01/22/2016 – Verified Buyer
I purchased a 13.5 quart cocotte in dark blue. The glaze is simply gorgeous! It is a deep, true cobalt blue. It is not a royal or mid-tone blue as some of the online pictures suggest. Functionally, this pot is quite large. Its base perfectly covers a 13" burner. It is deep and spacious enough to cook a large roasting chicken or small turkey. Big batches of chowder or stew --enough to serve a crowd-- can be made in this wonderful pot. I highly recommend it to anyone who (1) loves cooking with cast iron, (2) loves eating food cooked in cast iron, (3) has an appreciation for one-of-a-kind craftsmanship (such as hand glazed thrown pottery), and (4) is able to lift, maintain, and store a very heavy large pot. I would not recommend the cocotte for 'quick and easy' high heat cooking. It is better suited to slow cooked, 'simmer all day' recipes.

I love this cocotte!!! from Port Chester, NY on 10/29/2015
This piece of cookware is beautiful, easy to clean and so well made. It helps me make the perfect stew. The unique enameled finish browns the meat much better than le creuset!

Pros: high end cookware worth the prce
Cons: none

Perfect for Stews or Beef Bourguignon from Sun City Center, FL on 12/30/2014 – Verified Buyer
Perfect for browning meats & vegetables. The heat retention of this product is amazing so pay attention to it the first couple of times that you cook with it. You can use it on gas, induction & glass tops. Easier to care for then plain cast iron albeit at little more of an investment.
