About the Manufacturer

The Ciatti family has been managing the company that bears its name from the fifties, promoting the expansion of the business that is still thriving today for three generations. Its debut dates back to 1950 when the first manufacturing plant was opened. Initially focusing almost entirely on the production of cabinets for radios and record players, after a few years the company started to specialize in the manufacture of stands for televisions and in 1985, well ahead of time, added computer cabinets to its portfolio further expanding its range in the years that followed. The quality of its products, its competitive prices, the choice of a packaging aimed at establishing a direct communication with consumers and fast deliveries have enabled it not only to maintain but also to consolidate its market leadership.

In 1984 the company decided to make a bold move. While continuing to develop the CIATTI brand, Flavia and Massimo Ciatti presented during the Furniture Fair in Milan CIATTI A TAVOLA, a collection of kitchen complements to which they added in 1986 “AXIS”, the first decomposable kitchen. Decomposable kitchens and complements on wheels that anticipate by a few years the industrial kitchens for domestic use. Under the leadership of Flavia Ciatti, the company started to collaborate with several designers like Gianni Pareschi, De Pas D’urbino Lomazzi, Bruno Pozzi, Marco Duina, Christophe Pillet, Pino Pasquali, Lucci&Orlandini, Giancarlo Vegni, Paola Navone, J. Pensi and J. Llusca. In the middle of the eighties, the meeting between Flavia Ciatti and Bruno Rainaldi, an inquisitive and utopian experimenter of all forms of expression, led to further developments. CCR, a new company focused on the development of home complements and accessories, was created in 1983 as a result of their lively friendship and confrontation. Under the direction of Bruno Rainaldi, the company presented a whole range of furniture pieces, divans and chairs, mirrors and objects designed both by Bruno Rainaldi and other Italian designers. CCR would soon become renown for important pieces like Ptolomeo, the best-selling product of the company for which Bruno Rainaldi received the “Compasso d’oro” award in 2004.

In 2006, Lapo Ciatti, who represents the third generation, joined the company reinforcing it with his family entrepreneurial spirit and training in industrial design. New confrontations and ideas that led to the creation of OPINION CIATTI, OC, again under the artistic direction of Bruno Rainaldi, with main office in Calenzano, that replaced CCR. The relationship between Bruno Rainaldi and Lapo Ciatti is both an artistic and entrepreneurial association: OC reflects their view of design as a means of experimenting and playing with forms. The items produced by OC are intense and expressive. They reflect a non dogmatic research and a passion for design, which have always been important aspects of the company's production. Project by project, object by object, OPINION CIATTI has left a network of unique signs. Furniture pieces are often modifiable and modular compositions: a metaphor of a modern, free and adaptable lifestyle, of a home that flexibly changes in time, along with its furniture. Every OC product has its identity, its source of inspiration and history. These stories, whether parallel or divergent, are however linked by one theme: the quality of projects combined with the longstanding manufacturing tradition inherited by the company.
