Stoneware Pie Bird —

Add to Cart

The pie bird may be old-fashioned, but this time-honored baker's tool has turned out countless delicious pies over the course of centuries. The hollow pie bird vents steam from the filling as it cooks, preventing the contents from boiling over. Arches on the bottom redirect excess moisture to keep the bottom crust from becoming soggy. The top crust will be held in place, and your oven will be free of spills.

  • Stoneware maintains even temperatures and prevents scorching
  • Impermeable exterior enamel resists scratches and stains, and is safe for cutting on with knives
  • Unmatched thermal resistance - safe for freezer, microwave, oven, broiler and dishwasher
  • Dense stoneware blocks moisture absorption to prevent cracking, crazing and rippling
  • Nearly-nonstick glazed interior easily releases foods for quick cleanup
  • Stoneware collection

About the Manufacturer

From start to finish, Le Creuset is the ingredient that brings every meal together. In kitchens around the world, Le Creuset has been trusted for over 80 years for its legacy of style and quality. Their brilliant colors and user-friendly cookware have created an unforgettable dining experience. Trusted by those who appreciate every flavor’s subtle complexities, Le Creuset invites you to enjoy food and life to the fullest. Since 1925, Le Creuset has designed and manufactured Enameled Cast Iron cookware at their foundry in Fresnoy-Le-Grand, Northern France. It began by hand-casting molten cast iron in sand molds, still the most delicate stage of the production process. After casting, each piece of cookware is polished, sanded by hand, and scrutinized for imperfections. Once declared suitable for enameling, the items are sprayed with two separate coats of enamel and fired at a temperature of 1472F. The enamel then becomes extremely hard and durable, making it almost completely resistant to damage during normal use. Since much of the finishing is done by hand, each piece of Enameled Cast Iron cookware is completely unique.

12 Days of Christmas Gift

from Vidor, TX on 01/18/2016 – Verified Buyer

Our daughter's 12 Days of Christmas Gifts were themed to her kitchen remodel. We bought this in purple because that is her accent colour for her kitchen. I have seen one of these in years and it was PURPLE! The look on her face was priceless when she didn't know what it was or was for. She said, "OK Mom, it's a purple bird?" I then told her have it was used to bake pies. I am teaching her to bake, and we started with old hand me down family recipes. I told her she would soon need it. It was 12th Days gifts.

Pros: Perfect!
Cons: None.

I can't really tell you how well this works since I just got it. What I can tell you is this pie bird is the cutest thing and I love it. I don't usually bake in the summer because it is hot here in central Florida and I don't want to heat up my house but I am tempted to do it just to try this.

I have wanted one for years as I do a bit of baking and love the charm of kitchen tools used by my mother and grandmothers. A pie bird has been hard to find but mine is happily singing away this holiday season! A must for bakers everywhere!

Love. These. Pie birds. I make strawberry rhubarb pies several times a month. These birds keep my bottom crust from becoming a disgusting soggy mess. They're easy to clean, too.
