About the Manufacturer

Copeland Furniture: A Brief History With a vision to create a family owned and operated enterprise, Copeland Furniture set out in the early 1970s to make wood products from natural hardwoods. Initially, they made cider presses for home and small-scale orchard use. From there the designs evolved into butcher-block kitchen furniture and Adirondack-style porch furniture, items that were functional and affordable for baby-boomers as they furnished their first homes. During the many periods of growth, Copeland Furniture has changed from a one-man operation in an old garage in East Corinth, Vermont, to a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located on the banks of the Connecticut River in Bradford, Vermont. Using a combination of leading-edge computer technology and traditional craftsman technique, they have created an enterprise that is embedded in the local community, a place that provides a fulfilling work environment for the men and women who come to work there every day. Design Aesthetic The continued evolution of furniture designs has coincided with a resurgence of appreciation for designs from the Arts & Crafts, Mission, Shaker, and Scandinavian movements. Today, the aesthetic continues to be strongly influenced by these creative movements, as well as the surroundings of Vermont. Vermont's culture has historically placed a high value on preservation as witnessed in the many small villages dotted with architectural gems in the form of houses, libraries, and churches. These understated, well-designed structures inform our creative sensibilities each and every day. Copeland Furniture is best characterized as transitional, neither strictly contemporary nor traditional but rather a combination of elements that incorporate classic proportion with modern simplicity. The Past is Prologue Since the beginning, Copeland Furniture has sought to stay loyal to its mission to produce furniture for discerning consumers who have an appreciation for good design, quality, and value. They have also worked hard to stay loyal to the New England tradition of quality craftsmanship. Their work ethic embraces the belief that continuous improvement is ultimately what best serves the customer. They strive to meet your expectations and make the best furniture they possibly can.

I have had my Sarah platform bed since 2012 now. I ordered it in a Full XL size which gives me the length of a queen size, but the width of a full.

In addition to the bed, I also have the Sarah one drawer nightstand and the Sarah tall five-drawer dresser.

The fit and finish of Copeland furniture is excellent. This furniture is "heirloom" quality.

The only gripe I have is the method of attachment of the side rails to the headboard and footboard. The side rails utilize a combination of two wooden dowels in the end to plug into the headboard and footboard. Both the headboard and footboard have a threaded bolt that slides into the side rails to secure them. I move often and found that this method of attachment is very tedious and could be improved. Other than that, I love my Copeland furniture.

My sister took my recommendation and purchased an Astrid bed from Copeland.

I have wanted this Copeland bedroom set for ages and it is just as wonderful as the one I saw in their display in Maine years ago!

VERY well crafted and designed American Made product with an amazing finish. It is very well designed and manufactured real wood furniture and should last for generations!!
Love the maple/cherry combination as the maple really makes the cherry pieces pop.
The drawer slides work extremely well, and the slope of the headboard works great for reading in bed.
I have wanted this furniture for ages and so excited to have it in my home.

Pros: Very well made. superb finish on the wood, and the crafts people who made and assembled the pieces are artisans!
Cons: none that I have discered!!
