Perfect for my needs from Grand Junction, CO on 02/02/2015 – Verified Buyer
I got tired of grinding my beans "in-store," (espresso grind) when the results was so inconsistent (same store, same machine, same tick mark for espresso). Nothing worse than watery espresso when the grind isn't right for the method.
This little burr grinder does the trick for my daily cafe au lait and I do think the freshly ground beans enhance the flavor.
I don't find the motor all that loud--though I've read reviews that complain about the noise.
I haven't had to grind more than a handful of beans at a time--so the 20-second-wait-5-minutes-so's-not-to-burn-out-the-motor doesn't apply to me. Seven seconds is all I need for a generously sized cafe au lait. The unit footprint is quite small, so I can keep on the counter, and fits easily under the cabinets above. Cleaning it is a bit of a challenge--removing the top burr ring and ensuring the space around the stationary grinding piece is clear of fine grinds requires patience and a brush. (Or a can of air--I'm that tempted.) All-in-all, I'm very pleased with this purchase, but I think my needs are rather modest.

Good grinder for the money from Owensboro, KY on 08/21/2015
I have had this grinder for almost a year now. It works flawlessly, although it is LOUD. The assembly is easy to clean and it has an adequate system for dialing in the fineness or coarseness of your coffee to be ground. It does an excellent job in grinding coffee for french press. There is also an ultra fine grind for espresso, but I have not used it. It is a little quirky---there is an off/on button for power, and then also a little red button to push for the actual grinding. Overnight guests never seem to be able to use it without help the first time. Not a deal breaker at all. The instructions say it can't be used for longer than 15 seconds at a time -- overheating, perhaps. I have never had an issue with this. It loses a star because it is loud and that might be an issue for some...but it works fine and has been much more reliable than a Capresso grinder I had purchased at a much greater price.

Pros: wide range of grinds availalbe, fast, consistent grind, small footprint
Cons: loud

Grinder that does the job from Oak Hill, VA on 07/24/2014 – Verified Buyer
This is the first burr grinder that I've owned, so my analysis may be somewhat uninformed, but I was quite pleased with the Bistro. Easy to assemble, easy to use and with a modern look. The matte rubber look isn't my favorite, as it stands apart from the sea of stainless appliances in my kitchen, but the results were what I had hoped for... a rather consistent grind.

I've only ground one pound of beans thus far, so my feedback may change as the grinder gets more burn-in, but for right now it does the job.

Settings: Predominately medium, for a Cuisinart Extreme Brew (I'm not too advanced in my coffee snobbery just yet...)

Excelllent! from Bartlett, IL on 05/05/2014
I had purchased other units for $20-$40 on the store but never gave me consistency on the grind. They had a lot of variation which made it difficult to control the flavor.
This unit is excellent. It grinds any type of bean down to a fine grind for espresso (that what I use for most of the time). It does grind enough beans to make two double shoot of espresso in about 30 seconds. This amount might seem small but if you use for regular filter paper it will grind a larger quantity as the ground particles do not have to be as fine (this off course in the same amount of time). My family loves it, have use about a pound of coffee a week and have had this unit for 7 months.

Not for bean counters, but boy it's perfect! from San Diego, CA on 09/23/2015 – Verified Buyer
Finally found this burr grinder after having gone through several grinders that didn't just quite fit the bill. This one has a great design (mine is red), feels heavy and solid, and does an absolutely wonderful job of just grinding beans the way I want. The coffee grind container is made out of glass, something not often found. Adjustments can be made on a simple dial to determine whether you want your beans ground coarse or very fine. A timer complements this little perfection and makes just the right amount of coffee every morning for my espresso machine. Highly recommended!

Pros: Gread design, high quality, easy to use and clean, sturdy, does a perfect job
Cons: On the expensive side, but hey... it's worth it!

Stylish and beautifully crafted coffee grinder from Stuart, FL on 12/10/2014 – Verified Buyer
I chose this coffee grinder because of the wide variety of grinds, modern looks, and the Swiss workmanship.
BUT.....and there IS a but: if you need to grind enough coffee to make a POT of coffee, this is not the grinder for you. It produces only a relatively small amount of coffee even on the (longest) 20 second setting. This may have something to do with the type of coffee beans I use - Starbucks intensly dark French Roast. The grinder works well for me because I only grind enough coffee for one mug of cofffee at a time. I use a single cup Melitta coffee filter which sits on top of my mug. I am absolutely convinced that this method of brewing coffee produces the best tasting coffee. (Conventional or Keurig type coffee makers just don't get the water hot enough.)

PdxRunner from Portland, OR on 11/11/2014 – Verified Buyer
Great inexpensive conical burr grinder. Very fast, quiet, with a consistent grind for pour over & Aero Press. Very easy to clean, love the Glass collection Jar.
The only negative is the excess grounds left in the grinder after each grind. Since it is east to clean & I don't want old grounds mixed with new, I clean it each time. A thorough cleaning leaves up to a tablespoon of grounds cleaned out of the grinder after 1 use.

Terrific Burr Grinder from Portland, OR on 04/23/2015 – Verified Buyer
Have used this to grind 3 pounds of coffee. It is quieter than my previous Cuisinart grinder which broke after three uses. I use this to grind for a drip coffee maker and the grind is very consistent. Static is always a problem with burr grinders but this one is not too bad, compared to the Cuisinart. It has a glass receptacle with a rubber grip ring, which is very handy when you are moving the ground coffee to your coffee maker.

Pros: quiet, consistent grind size, less static on the parts which makes clean up easy
Cons: none so far

Quiet, consistent, no static from Salmon, ID on 01/28/2015 – Verified Buyer
While I don't have experience with the $200+ grinders out there, I can say that this is by far the quietest grinder I have ever heard. Compared to the other grinders I have used it also produces a much more consistent grind. The non-static glass grounds container might be my favorite feature. First of all the grounds come in through the top instead of the side, which eliminates mess at the grinder. Secondly anyone who has experienced a static charged plastic container that shoots grounds all over the kitchen will understand how obnoxious they can be. Not a problem with this container.

Oh yeah, and it looks pretty cool too.

Works well but PLAN AHEAD if you are brewing for more than two people at a time! from Portland, OR on 12/16/2014 – Verified Buyer
I am so enjoying the lack of sediment now that I have a consistent coarse grind for my French press coffee. Works well and is an attractive appliance and the bottom glass canister works very well- no static electricity and no grounds flying out. NOTE: directions specify to only grind 20 seconds at a time, then wait 5 minutes to avoid heat buildup that may damage grinder. This will be VERY ANNOYING if you are making coffee for more than 2 people at a time and forget to grind your coffee in batches ahead of time. Perhaps all burr grinders in this price range (inexpensive) are limited this way- worth checking out.
