About Bowron Sheepskin
Every Bowron sheepskin is the perfect result of the same methods pioneered in the 1880's by the Bowron brothers of New Zealand. Their unique 42 step tanning method has been constantly refined, and the quality of Bowron's sheepskins owes much to their location: the vast sheep stations of Australia's outback, and the lush green pastoral farms of New Zealand. Bowron's tanneries in New Zealand and Australia are placed in prime sheep farming areas, ensuring a plentiful source of high quality raw material. Trained suppliers select only materials that meet the needs of Bowron's customers to define the symbol of excellence attributed to the world's finest sheepskin.

In 1879 brothers, George and William Bowron, set sail for New Zealand to fulfill their personal dream of starting their own tannery. The tannery opened in 1881 where their family tradition of excellence in lambskin tanning immediately flourished.
To this day, every Bowron sheepskin is the perfect result of the same methods pioneered in the 1880's by the Bowron brothers from Yorkshire. Their unique 42 step tanning method has been constantly refined and now sits at the heart of the Bowron Sheepskin story. They select raw material from throughout the world, but believe the quality of their sheepskins owes much to their location in the midst of the world's finest flocks of lambs: the vast sheep stations of Australia's outback, and the high country runs and lush green pastoral farms of New Zealand.
Bowron's tanneries in New Zealand and Australia are placed in prime sheep farming areas, ensuring a plentiful source of high quality raw material and the best relationships with their suppliers. Their people are constantly in the plants where raw material is selected, training suppliers to select only materials that meet the needs of their customers.
Blending the skills of the craftsperson with the latest automated manufacturing techniques, their research and development team enable the finest quality sheepskins to be produced on a global scale.
They have selected and trained their own people from Europe, North America, Asia and Australia to ensure that the needs of their customers can be dealt with as quickly and directly as possible. Their approach has been to take their knowledge and products directly to the world, rather than waiting for the world to find them in New Zealand.
