Overpriced / Below Par Quality - Nice Idea - BAD execution
Mark from Dallas, TX– Verified Buyer
The title says it all but to elaborate, the slate is beautiful, but having the "slab" cut into two pieces looks cheap. You can clearly see the division after assembly and a division like that is just inviting erosion and structural strength issues in the near future. The first unit I had leaked from the top reservoir because of a shotty glue job...glue?? Yeah glue.....below par!! The replacement I was sent doesn't leak yet, but is also bares the ugly, cheap looking glue job as the original. The bottom of the unit is and looks CHEAP. The pieces don't quite fit perfectly and the gaps are way too visible. It's also difficult to determine how much water is in the bottom reservoir which can lead to over filling and a big mess. The unit is HIGH MAINTENANCE. I find that I need to add water to the reservoir once a day and that will probably increase as the days get longer and hotter. The unit has no filtration so it has to be broken down and cleaned every week or so or it takes on an offensive odor, becomes foamy and altogether unpleasant. The pump motor is LOUD. It vibrates or causes something to vibrate in the bottom reservoir, not sure which and it is driving me nuts trying to make it stop. The light has already burned out twice. It seems like the wrong kind of light to have in such a unit that exposes it to splashes of water as well as quickly varying temperatures. In my opinion a nice LED would have been the better and much more economical choice., The only real redeeming qualities are that the slate is pretty even though it is just pieces of slate glued together....at this price you would think a solid piece could have been supplied. The other is the nice sound the water makes trickling down the unit, like a babbling brook. That is if you keep it full enough and can get past the constant humming of the motor. Nice idea....cheaply and poorly executed, What a shame!
A little Noisey

I like the look & it works great other than the fact that the pump is louder than i'd like. This would be a perfect waterfall feature in our meditation room but while mediating instead of hearing water trickle down we hear the noise from the pump.
