Vitra Alejandro Aravena Chairless Seating

Charles is a seating device for the modern nomad. It is thus a solution par excellence for times when chairs are in short supply: lunch in the park, while waiting in a crowded airport, a picnic on the lawn, sitting down at a concert, reading on the beach and on countless other occasions. Charles is so light and compact that you can carry it with you wherever you go.

  • Sturdy strap of fabric allows its user to sit down in a relaxed manner - but with neither seat nor backrest
  • Relieves the spine and legs, so that hugging your knees or using a support is no longer necessary
  • Your hands are free to operate your laptop, for reading or eating
  • Light and compact, you can carry with you anywhere

About the Manufacturer

Founded in Weil am Rhein, Germany, in 1950 by Willi Fehlbaum, Vitra has been the retailer of the works of many internationally renowned furniture designers. Throughout those 50 years Vitra has had one goal: to make the place of work as appealing, productive, and healthy as possible. Vitra furniture can be found in countless successful companies and organizations, as well as in the homes of many private individuals with an affinity for design.

Convinced that rooms and interior design have a decisive influence on people's motivation, performance, and health, Vitra has made it their mission to develop furniture and furnishing systems that stimulate, inspire, and motivate, while also offering the body comfort, safety, and support. In order to attain this goal, Vitra has worked with their specialized team and renowned designers. Over the years, Vitra has exemplified that they are not afraid to experiment with new and bold ideas and eagerly anticipate and look forward to facing the new challenges of the world of work.

Vitra is vigorously persistent in creating products of the highest quality. Once in the factory, the Vitra staff manufactures the furniture to precise standards, individually ensuring the quality of each product. The focus on quality does not end at the factory door. Providing clients with premier service is just as important as manufacturing furniture. In order to further ensure the high quality in all Vitra products, Vitra has set up their own test center which monitors products against criteria that are far more stringent than the statutory standards.
