Holger Nielsen It all began in 1939 in the small Danish town of Randers. Newlywed Marie asked her husband Holger Nielsen, who was a skilled craftsman, to create a bin for her hairdressing salon. Holger wanted to impress his wife, and used all his talent to create a functional and beautiful pedal bin for her. The bin, which he named Vipp, was never intended to be sold, but some of Marie’s customers were so impressed with the bin that they ordered it for their husbands' medical and dental clinics. This was how the Vipp Bin saw the light of day.

Excellent product Excellent product! Did not give 5 stars only because of the discrepancy in the product description. The website states that it was made in Denmark, whereas the package says it is designed in Denmark, manufactured in Latvia. |

Our trash is SO impressed! Were in New York City, and the trash is just, you know, SO obnoxious and snobby. After years and years of sending our old SimpleHuman receptacle to therapists, acupuncturists and healers - to no avail - it finally had a breakdown and had to be sent to a quieter suburban household. Poor thing just couldnt handle the intensity of our New York trash... Alas, when we accidentally threw away a Design Within Reach catalog rather than putting it in recycling, we discovered the trash seemed much less on edge and - dare I say - actually pleasant! We deduced that it was the Vipp 16 being shown on one of its pages, and so - preferring AllModerns selections and service, I ordered a beautiful stainless steel version of the Vipp 16, and we havent looked back since. Of course, now our towels want their own LeCorbusier chaise in the bathroom as a towel rack, but theyre going to have to slum it for now. - - - - - back on earth Its pretty. I like its look, and It probably costs what it does because its not made in China. I wish it had the top from the original design (pointier, less of a dome) the rod that connects the lift-lever to the footpad sometimes gets bent so the lid doesnt close properly the steel inner basket could use a breather hole in the bottom so its easier to pull out a fully-stuffed trash bag. |
