Holger Nielsen It all began in 1939 in the small Danish town of Randers. Newlywed Marie asked her husband Holger Nielsen, who was a skilled craftsman, to create a bin for her hairdressing salon. Holger wanted to impress his wife, and used all his talent to create a functional and beautiful pedal bin for her. The bin, which he named Vipp, was never intended to be sold, but some of Marie’s customers were so impressed with the bin that they ordered it for their husbands' medical and dental clinics. This was how the Vipp Bin saw the light of day.

Pretty but not exactly scent-less. This is a really beautiful and well made thing. I really wanted it to work as the nursery is also our room. Sadly, it just doesn't keep the orders in even when closed. We have resorted to always throwing the poopy diapers outside and changing the bag often (kind of making the point of having a diaper pail moot). So, 3 stars for looks and craftsmanship. I am still happy we didn't buy a giant piece of plasic that can only be used for diapers. We will use this for other garbage after the diapers are done and it really is a nice looking pail. |

Clean and modern work of art Needed a permanent solution for a special needs teen. Here are the pros and cons. Pros: looks great and clean and sanitary, well built, does not absorb smells at all, lid descends slowly, holds as much as familiar plastic brands, easy to toss diaper in, WHEN CLOSED, 100% SEALS OFF SMELL. There simply is no more diaper smell in the room. GONE. Cons: When opening to discard diaper, you're hit with a brief but intense unpleasant odor. Same with changing the bag. (We bought the bags made for this, and fit well they do.) It's pricey, but given the looks and 100% odor locking function, worth it. Could easily be used elsewhere as a stylish trash can. In fact, we immediately ordered a smaller unit for our bathroom! |
