The Florilegium Collection From Thomas Paul

The Florilegium Collection The inspiration for this collection was taken from the meaning of the word, Florilegium, and also the botanical illustrations that date back to the 15th century. The word florilegium (plural florilegia), is derived from medieval Latin and was formed from the roots, flos (flower) and legere (to gather): literally a gathering of flowers. Books describing the culinary and medicinal uses of plants were printed containing illustrations of flowers. Wealthy individuals and botanic gardens eventually began commissioning artists to record the beauty of exotic flowers in 'Florilegia'.
