lovely, if a bit small

these white wine glasses are good quality, as one would expect from riedel. the weighted bottoms give them some heft, while the thinness of the glass gives them a lightness. though I find the size comfortable, they may feel small for those with larger hands (or noses! the opening is also a bit on the small side).

These glasses are beautiful but smaller than expected for everyday use. I have some larger Riedel glasses that are larger and less delicate that I've used for for almost 3 years for water, juice, milk, etc. These glasses are best used for adults and white wine which is their intended use.

Can't go wrong with Ridel 8 for price of 6. They are elegant and make wine taste better.

This Bohemian glass merchant was the starting point for a direct line through several generations down to today´s corporate head Georg J. Riedel and his son Maximillian. Each Riedel in this long chain has been able to contribute his personal skills and views to expand the company´s success and make it what it is today. The Riedel story begins in 1678 in the northern part of Bohemia, bordering Schlesia - today the Czech republic and Poland respectively. This part of Bohemia was a German speaking enclave known as the Sudetenland. The Venetians brought back the knowledge of glass making from the Near East around 1.000 A.D. The knowledge of producing glass spread slowly towards the northern part of Europe, searching for energy, critical to the melting of glass. Wood was the source, causing a glass maker migration to the forests. Due to this migration, a glass culture developed in Bohemia in the 17th century.
