It has a halogen bulb, which sounds bright, but it is diffused twice through the surface of the bulb and again through the dachshund to provide a really soft glow. Would be great for a night light in a room. It's really fun-looking, and it comes with a bulb and instructions for installation. It also comes with a wall plug and switch. Was this helpful? Yes / No
