Joaquim Ruiz Millet Joaquim Ruiz Millet has been continuously involved in cultural activities, ranging from the production of short films to participation in art and literature reviews. He is author of works of poetry, including 1 Empieza Acaba 1(1 Begins Ends 1) (1987) and El Núcleo de la Resistencia, Años de Felicidad (Years of Happiness: The Core of the Resistance) (1994), the novel No Me Rayes (Don't Bug Me) (2003) and the monograph Barba Corsini, Arquitectura/Architecture (1995), as well as numerous articles relating to art, architecture and design in specialized books and reviews. Also an architect (ETSAB), he created the Galería H2O in Barcelona in 1989, where he furthered his activities as gallery owner, cultural agitator, curator of exhibitions, and editor of books and design objects.
Faced with the challenge of blank paper, some authors capture its very essence on designer rugs. A graphic and industrial designer, a painter, a fashion designer and a writer and art gallery director create each of these four exclusive designs, in which four very personal visions of the rug as contemporary object are made clear. A dichotomy. A horizontal canvas. A work of art underfoot. In 1991, Joaquim Ruiz Millet started a novel that he would finish five years later. During his work's gestation period, a page of the unpublished manuscript gave rise to a series of objects, such as this rug, with spindly characters that move the work plane from hands to feet. Expanding it, the original becomes the abstract.
