Moroso Sunny Chair

Born in the Netherlands in 1968, Tord Boontje studied design at the Royal College of Art in London. Through his work, Boontje explores the juxtapositions of old and new, naturalizism and technology. He lived and worked in London until 1995 and currently lives in France, where he continues to work on his designs in his own studio which he founded in 2006. Boontje was nominated for designer of the year by Elle Decoration UK, and the Garland Light he designed for Artecnica won the awards for best light and readers choice for Future Classic.

Tord Boontje's Shadowy and Sunny collection is possessed of outsize grace. All are made by local craftspeople in Dakar, Senegal. Each chair is individually hand-made, woven in a traditional herringbone pattern. Boontje's exuberant design allied with a long-established craft result in a wonderfully exotic and evocative pair.

• Product Care: Clean with clear water and brush weave with soft-bristled brush to remove loose dirt. Wipe down frame with damp cloth. All pieces in this collection are hand-made from nylon yarns with different color-fastness, and some colors are not as fade-resistant as others (change of color is not considered a defect). Storage between outdoor seasons is recommended.
