Pernille Vea is an industrial designer MDD. She graduated from the Danish Design School in 1996 with a specialty in furniture and appliances. Her designs have won countless prizes and prestigious awards all over the world, and her talent for creating innovative designs has made her one of Scandinavia's most successful upcoming designers.
According to Vea, her designs spring from the natural world: “I have moved from very geometric design to more asymmetrical shapes, inspired by nature. Previously, it was largely about designing things from the kitchen and the dining table for taking out into the garden. Now the trend has reversed: importing shapes from the great outdoors into the garden.”

In 1979, Simon Hansen establisheed the family-owned company Danish Steel House, which supplied steel products to the catering industry. Nine years later, Bjarne Hansen developd the company’s famous Irish coffee set. In a single stroke, the innovative design become an impressive, international sales success and today Menu is known for it's innovative and stylish modern accessories.
The innovative design which in a single stroke, become an impressive, international sales success. In 1998, Danish Steel House become known as Menu. The designer Pernille Vea was then employed, and the development of unique, top-selling design products took off. In 2004, the parent company Scandinavian Living was established. This served as an umbrella for the individual trade marks Menu, Menu Pro, QDO and Unique.
In the last few years, the Hansen family has sold a share in the company to ISO founder Peter Midtgaard. Menu has been a permanent design team which now consists of Pernille Vea, Jakob Wagner and Christian Bjørn.
