Melissa and Doug Wooden Animal Nesting Blocks

I purchased this for my 2 year old son and they were all broken up within a month's time. Nice blocks BUT not kid friendly to upstand to alittle rougher wear.

These are even nicer than they looked online. They are very nice large pictures of the animals and the wood seems durable.

It took us a few turns of playing with these to see the hidden genius... Not only will your little one enjoy stacking and nesting the blocks, and pointing out the animals and the sounds they make, but the animals are actually grouped so you can line all the blocks up by color to show all the forest creatures, all the farm animals, and so on. These are a favorite in our household!

We love the animal nesting blocks. They are sturdy and very colorful. They feature pictures of many different animals so that is an educational bonus. My 2-yr-old and 5-yr-old like to stack them vertically, but also line them up side-by-side horizontally and pretend their character toys are walking up and down stairs. You can't go wrong with these for a toddler - classic toy!

This might not get the use it does if it weren't in a play room where other kids have access to it, but it seems like they have fun stacking it up....until some other little joker comes by to knock it down.

Our 20 month-old grandbaby is so absorbed in these blocks! Generally at this age, kids have short attention spans, but not with this toy. He likes to nest the blocks open-end-up so he can see each piece fit, I hide each piece in an upsidedown nest taking each larger block off revealing the smaller underneath, we line them up left to right, large to small, we make several different size towers, but when we stack them all the way up, he is just mesmorized every time that they are his height. The blocks help with counting and animal recognition, as well. My only complaint is that the graphics are just so busy for a little one...would be helpful in teaching numbers and/or letters if they had a simpler design (and would help tots stack the tower according to the pattern)...numbers on one side, shapes on another, animals on yet another. Similar design to the 19" cardboard nesting block set you have. But all in all its a wonderful toy and a terrific price!
