Starting in 1921, Jacobsen worked in the textile industry. In 1934 he founded Luxo ASA, former Jac. Jacobsen A / S, a Norwegian industrial group. It was originally a marketing company for textile machinery. In 1937, he developed the Luxo-L1, abalanced-arm lamp. Today, the lamp is part of various exhibitions in museums around the world, as the lamp is being seen as an example for classic lamp design. The L1 construction principle is based on the Anglepoise lamp, developed by George Carwardine in 1933. Jac Jacobsen lived to be 95 years old and was active in the company until his last days.

Great Utilitarian Lamp

Perfect as a drawing table lamp. Classic design, except the bulb portion is a little large.
I finally found you!!!!

If you're reading this review then you've probably been doing as much searching for a lamp like this as I did. These are extremely hard to find. This is a great quality lamp, nice looking, and the price was fairly good as well. I was definitely pleased to find it on this site. And I have to add the customer service was excellent. I really appreciated the call back to see how well I liked the lamp. I mean, who does that anymore

Light is great, design excellent. I had to learn how to fixe the best position because on my drawing table, it has the tendancy to move. But I learn, and now its just perfect.
If you dont like it, return it.

It works like it's support to. If you're on the fence, just try it out. If you don't like it, return it. Take some time and return it if you don't like. It's better to see it for yourself than sit there and wonder for days and days.

I was a little concerned that the redesign of the supposedly original "architect's lamp" for CFL bulbs (no more heat shield in the shade) would be taken as an opportunity to incorporate some corner-cutting. Nope, nope, nope, this lamp is tops. It stays where you place it and has a very sturdy feel. I wish I had gotten it when I heard about it two decades ago and I'm trying to think of ways to incorporate more of them into my (small) apartment. My sole complaint is that it comes with a cheapo bulb, but that is easily replaced with a decent name-brand one.
