This is a unique and beautifu high quality light fixture. I have installed it over my dining table and it provides an excellent quality and quantity of light, including a dash of light to the walls facing the "open" clay pieces.
It is well worth the only con: difficult to install. It took three of us almost three hours to put it in place because the clay pieces are all pre-connected and must be held mid-air while installing.

Sharan Elran is a ceramic artist who explores the physicality of clay and porcelain with an attempt to push them to their extreme and expose their nature through interaction with elements and forces such as light or gravity. Sharan received an MFA from Carnbrook Art Academy and holds a B.Sc. in physics and computer science. He is engaged both in the mathematical and material aspects of his craft. His work was exhibited in Cranbrook Art Museum's "Mercedes-Benz Financial Services-ART" exhibition, as well as the Gallery Mc New York, Gloria Kennedy Gallery and The Public Theater in New York, among others. Avner Ben Natan has been working with light as material since the early 90's in his work as a lighting designer in films and television. After he moved to New York, he began to extend the work with light into the design of light fixtures and environments for art and dance installations, residential and commercial projects. A versatile artist, Ben Natan has also been writing poetry and prose. After completing a collection of short stories, he started to compose and sing his own poetry and has developed one of his short stories into a screenplay. Received a BA in Sociology and Anthropology from Tel Aviv University.

About the Manufacturer

Yael Erel and Avner Ben Natan, are a collaborating couple and founders of Lightexture. They work together, as an architect and a lighting designer, to explore light through the construction of unique designer lamps, which adjust through time, and draw light and texture in space. Coming from two different disciplines, they explore this field together with different sensibilities and skills. In their light construction they incorporate ready-made objects, lighting components and constructed elements. The lamps are fitted and assembled by hand in their studio. Yael and Avner collaborate with Ceramic artist Sharan Elran in design, development and construction of the ceramic Claylight™ and Earthlight™ series. One of Lightexture's goals is to create energy efficient fixtures, while maintaining focus on atmospheric and spatial performance.
