The Design

Inspired by the woven construction of apple crates from his childhood, Frank Gehry used an interwoven maple strip design to form the eye-catching Hat Trick Side Chair. Combining strength and sturdiness with flexibility and comfort, the Hat Trick Side Chair and its cohorts from Gehry's 1992 group boast a truly unique appearance that earned accolades from the American Society of Interior Designers and Time Magazine alike, among many others. Available as an armchair or a side chair with or without a seat cushion, the Hat Trick chair can be tailored to meet your needs and stands out in any environment.

• Frame constructed of hard white maple veneers in 2" wide, 1/34" thick strips laminated to 6 to 9-ply thickness
• All wood grains run in same direction for added resilience
• Thermosetting glue provides structural rigidity without the need for metal connectors
• Contoured seat constructed of cross-ply maple for rigidity
• Back of chair flexes for added comfort
• Clear plastic glides with matte frost finish
• Optional "shower-cap" seat cushion, available in a variety of fabrics and leathers, envelops the entire seat
• Each chair comes stamped with the KnollStudio logo, Frank Gehry's signature and the date of production
• Available with or without arms — and arms may be retrofitted on armless version or removed from arm version
