Chico Bicalho was born in Rio de Janeiro and studied at an elementary school where the football field had trees throughout, because the school was against cutting them down. Later he moved to Petropolis, RJ, an area surrounded by the South Atlantic tropical rainforest. He believes in having a spiritual life, in freedom, and in peace; supports the theory that the earth is one living thing and feels that humans should understand nature, live with nature, and be equal to nature; received a BFA in sculpture from RISD and MFA in photography NYU; since 1995 has been working with a group of friends on reforestation projects replanting native South Atlantic tropical rain forest trees.Isabella Torquato Brazil
Isabella Torquato is an industrial designer and advertising art director living in Rio de Janeiro. Isabella designs from her mythical, ecological aura and firm attitude towards life. In the Fall 2004, Chico Bicalho and Isabella Torquato introduced three delightful Jumping Insects of the Brazilian Rainforest (each complete with its imaginative story) from the memories of their childhoods in BrazilAncient voices of the forest tell the story of Leopold, a cricket that lives on the small rivers off the Amazon. When the forest inhabitants see Leopold jumping above the vegetation, they make a wish for the well being of the entire forest. To make Leopold jump, press him down on a smooth, clean surface until the suction cup on the bottom attaches to it. Wait a few seconds, and, as the suction cup releases, Leopold jumps up. Make a wish! Just make sure you stay away from Leopold's path as he jumps.

It's a bit dangerous because it jumps up high but I think that's why my daughter likes it. Fun... but I recommend it to be played with under supervision. A toy that has my toddler's going back to it?... I like!

Looks very cool. Not recommended for young children. It pops up pretty high, so look out.

I collect these lovely little creatures. My children adore them with me and love hearing the stories about them included in their box. Leopold was especially welcomed since we have tallulah and learned that they are a "couple" !!! The fact that they jump to high heaven is just icing on the cake. We really adore these and wish so much there were more to add to the collection.
