The foundation of KidCo's product offering is a complete line of child, pet and hearth safety gates, designed and engineered in Denmark. The Gateway®, KidCo's first model was a completely new concept in pressure mounted, walk-through gate design. In 2003 the Gateway® To Go travel gate was introduced, winning numerous awards including the JPMA Innovation Award and iParenting Media Award. All KidCo gates pass not only the ASTM safety standards but also the much more stringent European requirements.
Each patented product in the home safety collection offers features not found on products from the commodity suppliers of safety products intended to protect children. In 2000 KidCo's Toilet Lock won the JPMA Show Stopper award, as one of the best new products for that year. And again in 2004 another new home safety device, the Door Lever Lock, won the JPMA Innovation award. Manufactured on three continents, home safety items are delivered to KidCo's distribution center to supply the professional "Baby Proofer" market and packaged for the retail market.
Does the job for which it was intended

We watch our seven month old grandson at our house about once a week and needed a gate to keep him from tumbling down the stairs now that he is more mobile. The installation instructions for this gate are not good and the parts list is even more confusing. However, now that the gate is installed, we are happy with it. The gate is easily removed when we don't need it (leaving just the brackets on the wall). We installed it just high enough so our cats can crawl under it to get downstairs to the litter box. I am especially happy that there is no part of the gate that sits on the floor to be tripped over. The gate can be opened with one hand (in case your other hand is busy with the baby). However, to get the top of the gate and bottom the the gate latched properly when closing, it takes at least one hand for the top of the gate and a foot or ankle (if the other hand is not available) to line up the bottom. With a little practice, it's not a big deal.
Easy to use

I bought two of these gates to put at the bottom of a staircase. I foster kittens for a local no-kill shelter, and wanted to block the doorway so that they couldn't get into the rest of the house. The gates were easy to install, simple to use, and during the time I didn't have to worry about blocking kittens, it was easy to take the gate down and store it in the closet. I eventually replaced the gates with a screen door (why yes, we ARE super classy!), but would recommend these gates to anyone with animals or small children to corral.
It's worth the cost

We love this gate. This is the 2nd one we are purchasing. We needed the first one for an angle situation. We took it with us when we moved and remounted it. I like the way you can completely remove the gate when not needed. I hung it on our wall in the last house because we used the extensions and it was so long so it looked like art or a magazine rack. I know there are less expensive options but considering the look, ease of use, young children needing to manipulate it, that it can be removed, stored and used again with no fuse (other than leaving four little pieces of mounting hardware up) this gate wins everytime.

I purchased this gate on sale and using my Wayfair rewards and got a steal of a deal. We installed it this week and it looks perfect in our home. It blends in with the rest of the woodwork instead of sticking out like an ugly sore thumb. It was very easy to hang and we put it in an awkward place and the angle mounts worked out great. It is sturdy and I would have paid full price for it. Great buy.
good for stairs

This works good wt the top of the stairs when you have to go at an angle...we gave a window in the way to be able to mount flush so this allowed us to have a solid gate anchored firmly to the wall and the stair post...looks nice too
Great Gate To Solve A Problem

This gate was great after installing the stair installation kit at the top of the stairs. The combination of the kit and this gate allowed the gate to be installed safely. It is sturdy good quality wood and opens and closes easily, but locks nicely.

Once we were able to install the gate it worked great. The only downfall is the instructions provided are not very helpful!
Very good gate

Seems very solid and was relatively simple to install once I had the correct size figured out. the instructions should have been better, but not a dealbreaker. The color matches our stairs perfectly and looks really good. the only other problem i have is that the gate has already become a little bit difficult to lock after 1 month of usage - needs to be jiggled a bit - so I took off 1 star.
Great Looking and easily installed

We were looking for a gate that would match our oak railings and floor and this was perfect. It is easy to install and can be installed on a diagonal which helped us miss a hand rail too. It looks really nice in our living room. Well worth the extra $ than a metal one or a plastic one.
Just what we needed

Exactly what we were expecting, already had one in the home.
