Ferrucio Laviani Ferrucio Laviani is part of a generation of young Italian designers who came to prominence in the early 90's when the Memphis movement made its mark on international design. Born in 1960, Laviani studied both architecture and design in Milan, graduating with a degree in architecture in 1986. Soon thereafter, he took part in the "12 Newcomers" Memphis collection in 1986 and the "Living on Earth" Memphis collection in 1987, launching his career with ties to the colorful and idiosyncratic design movement. Laviani went on to design whimsical, colorful furniture and objects that remind us of their exuberant and expressive mission. Laviani's Orbital Lamp of 1991, perhaps his best known design, used color-saturated biomorphic shapes for the glass shades, and an angular, tapering metal base, bringing to mind the organic emphasis and optimism of the '50s, while his Max table combines multi-use practicality with his signature curvilinear forms. Ferruccio Laviani marks the transition between his generation and those before him through his collaborations with his elders and mentors. He's worked with Kartell, Foscarini, Achille Castiglioni, and Ettore Sottsass. Along with his talented colleagues, Laviani exemplifies the best of Italian design, present and future.
The classic image of the bedside lamp has been revisited by Kartell technology and transformed into an piece of contemporary art. The Take table lamp is available in various attractive chromatic tones. The shape comes from the joining of two symmetrical parts: two flat, rectangular and two-dimensional plates which each assume the shape and volume of a half-lamp. The internal pleating of the lampshade embellishes the item, creating a play of light when turned on.

Fabulous! This little lamp emits a gorgeous shimmer of light giving interest and texture to the wall behind it. It's not a good reading lamp, but it lights up a room and is flat out gorgeous! |

Nice! We knew it didn't have a dimmer - when we purchased - but that would be my only complaint with the lamp - as it's a bit bright. |

Lightweight lamp This lamp is lucite so it doesn't weigh much at all, and the attached cord and switch are too heavy for such a lightweight lamp. Although there's a choice of 2 different looks, the lamp won't stay in place unless the cord is close to (or hanging off) the end of a table/shelf, and that will determine the look you end up with. Aside from that, the lamp is as described and works for what I have in mind. |

Sparkling lamp! This is a cute little lamp. I got it in clear. It definitely could use a dimmer and I plugged it in to a Lutron dimmer. Otherwise it was too bright. Kind of sparkles like a candle. I have mine on a bookcase. |

Clever adaptation of classic table lamp. Perfect little lamp for our needs. Love the adaptation of a classic table lamp for a modern decor. We have one on our kitchen table and one on the moveable island/bar in our city galley kitchen, where we needed more and ambient light. Just right. Would prefer the on/off switch on the lamp and not the cord. |
