He remembers having spent his childhood under his father's drawing tables, passing hours stitching, cutting, gluing and grinding, disassembling bicycles, motorbikes and other objects. Endless hours, an entire life spent dismantling and reassembling anything that fell into his hands, reconstructing his surrounding world. In 1982 he renovated Palais de l'╔lysΘe at President Mitterrand's request, in 1984 CafΘ Costes became Le CafΘ, between 1988 and 1990 he transformed the Royalton and the Paramount in New York into the new classics of the hotel world, and in the following years he promoted architectonic tours de force in Japan that saw him become the leading exponent of expressionist architecture. His respect for humanity and the environment has also been recognised in France, where in 1995 he designed the Ecole Nationale SupΘrieure des Arts DΘcoratifs in Paris and in 1997 the control tower of Bordeaux Airport. Abroad, he continues to shake the traditions and culture of the world's major cities, with the interior design of the restaurant at Hong Kong's Peninsula Hotel (1994), the Teatron in Mexico (1995), the Delano Hotel a Miami (1995), the Modrian in Los Angeles (1996), the Asia de Cuba restaurant in New York (1997), as well as an entire series of ongoing projects in London and elsewhere. His skill lies in being able to transform instantly the object of the commission into a place filled with charm, pleasure and encounters. He tirelessly modifies everyday life, exalting the deepest roots of existence in his changes. He applies himself to the design of ashtrays, lamps, handles, cutlery, candleholders, teapots, vases, watches, scooters, mopeds, desks, beds, taps, bathsà in short, life. His increasing fascination with life has now led him to create clothes, underwear, footwear, glasses, food, and always with the conviction that his design respects nature and the future of humankind. In the exhibits of museums all around the world, in Paris, New York, Munich, London, Chicago, Kyoto and Barcelona, his work is considered to be that of a master. He has received numerous prizes and awards: designer of the year, the Oscar de luminaire (1980), the title of Officier des Artes et des Lettres (1985), the Grand Prix National de la CrΘation Industrielle (1988), Compasso d'Oro ADI (2001), Show Boats in Munich (2003), and many others. Philippe Starck began his collaboration with driade in 1985.

Kartell Kartell Masters Chair (Set of 2)
Stylish and Comfortable
Claudia from Boston, MA– Verified Buyer
These chairs are lightweight but seem sturdy and appropriate for indoors and out. They are more comfortable than they look. They have great lines. Sage color is warm and fairly neutral.
Great chair, beautiful design
MH from NJ– Verified Buyer
The chair fits well with our modern, eclectic decor. The black has a nice matte finish that doesn't show smudges as much as i had feared since we use these at the breakfast table. It is comfortable but does rise up in the front so sitting at the edge is not the best position.
Lovely, comfortable utilitarian chairs

Sculptural and comfortable chairs.
Dena from Seattle, WA– Verified Buyer
We are using them in our breakfast nook and they are perfect. We got a simple white round bistro table to go with them. They do not read as plastic , they read as interesting design. Surprisingly comfortable too.
Debbie from Brush Prairie, WA– Verified Buyer
These look great and are very comfortable. A good price. They took a while to arrive, at least 3 weeks more than promised, but worth the wait.
Marian from Michigan

Absolutely unique and comfortable! We paired with a teak top table with hammered metal frame and the look is stunning. Hubby is a big man and sits comfortably. Also a plus is that the chairs do not scratch our wood floors.
So easy to clean
Jessica from Chandler, AZ– Verified Buyer
I purchased 4 of these chairs because I was sick of trying to clean my upholstered ones, I have a 6 year old and 19 month old. I love how easy these are to wipe down and even though they are not padded, they are very comfortable.
