Philippe Starck France (1949 - )He remembers having spent his childhood under his father's drawing tables, passing hours stitching, cutting, gluing and grinding, disassembling bicycles, motorbikes and other objects. Endless hours, an entire life spent dismantling and reassembling anything that fell into his hands, reconstructing his surrounding world. In 1982 he renovated Palais de l'╔lysΘe at President Mitterrand's request, in 1984 CafΘ Costes became Le CafΘ, between 1988 and 1990 he transformed the Royalton and the Paramount in New York into the new classics of the hotel world, and in the following years he promoted architectonic tours de force in Japan that saw him become the leading exponent of expressionist architecture. His respect for humanity and the environment has also been recognised in France, where in 1995 he designed the Ecole Nationale SupΘrieure des Arts DΘcoratifs in Paris and in 1997 the control tower of Bordeaux Airport. Abroad, he continues to shake the traditions and culture of the world's major cities, with the interior design of the restaurant at Hong Kong's Peninsula Hotel (1994), the Teatron in Mexico (1995), the Delano Hotel a Miami (1995), the Modrian in Los Angeles (1996), the Asia de Cuba restaurant in New York (1997), as well as an entire series of ongoing projects in London and elsewhere. His skill lies in being able to transform instantly the object of the commission into a place filled with charm, pleasure and encounters. He tirelessly modifies everyday life, exalting the deepest roots of existence in his changes. He applies himself to the design of ashtrays, lamps, handles, cutlery, candleholders, teapots, vases, watches, scooters, mopeds, desks, beds, taps, bathsà in short, life. His increasing fascination with life has now led him to create clothes, underwear, footwear, glasses, food, and always with the conviction that his design respects nature and the future of humankind. In the exhibits of museums all around the world, in Paris, New York, Munich, London, Chicago, Kyoto and Barcelona, his work is considered to be that of a master. He has received numerous prizes and awards: designer of the year, the Oscar de luminaire (1980), the title of Officier des Artes et des Lettres (1985), the Grand Prix National de la CrΘation Industrielle (1988), Compasso d'Oro ADI (2001), Show Boats in Munich (2003), and many others. Philippe Starck began his collaboration with driade in 1985.
Irony and irreverence merge with comfort and practicality in the unparalleled Bubble Club Armchair. As an industrial chair made entirely of plastic, the Bubble Club Armchair is an innovation that springs from meticulous research and development. This cozy armchair owes its cartoonlike appearance to the careful contrast between the traditional lines of the backrest and the exaggerated contours of the armrests. Following the design of the sofa that in 2001 won Italy's prestigious design award, Compasso d'Oro, the Bubble Club Armchair is a versatile piece that can survive equally well indoors and outdoors.| Item: | Dimensions: | Weight: |

Great Chair We first sat in this chair in Mexico. It was comfortable even without a cushion. The finish (black) is really quite pretty. We are using it outside. The bold look is impressive. This is a true winner. |

FANTASTIC! I BOUGHT FOUR OF THESE FOR MY GARDEN PATIO AREA. THEY ARE COMFORTABLE, EXTREMELY DURABLE AND SUPER EASY TO CLEAN, JUST USE A CUSHION AND YOU HAVE YEARS OF USE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE. I FIRST SAME THEM AT A CITY FUNCTION AND KNEW THEY HAD TO BE DURABLE. THANKS! NIKKI |

Don't buy, common problem in mold design This is an awful product. Something I would not expect from such a brand. The seats and sofas ordered as a set for our garden arrived with the seats separated from the sides on one set and from the back on the other. The groove created just gets worse with time. I have seen this problem reported in other reviews on All Modern (and elsewhere). I don't know if this is a bad batch or an overall design defect. Don't buy this product. |

Not uv friendly and poor mold design We purchased 4 of these chairs for our pool deck in Florida. Note we purchased them locally and not from allmodern. The first year they were great. The look was what we wanted and they were a joy to sit in. By the end of the first year, they had faded quite a bit but that was ok with us as they still looked good and were functionally great. During the second year, the seats on 3 of the 4 chairs had separated from the sides or back. There is a groove between the seat and the side and all 3 separated in the groove. On examination we noticed the amount of material/plastic in this area was too thin to handle the weight of a person plus the flex that's inherent in the design. Although the chairs are a great design, the molds they were made in are not. By the end of year 3, we had thrown away all 4 chairs, a good sum of money. |

Fabulous and fun! I bought 4 chairs for clients to use on their balcony at their office because they are Denny Crane fans. They are comfortable and so much fun to see out on the balcony. People get excited when they encounter them for the first time. The only negative comment is that they stain on the seat from the rain. |

Great chair!!! Roomy and decently comfortable despite the hard plastic. The white gets smudgy way too easily SO we exchanged them!!! We went for the weanie colored ones which were the original colors they had on Boston Legal (on the balcony scenes). They are much nicer looking than you would think. |
