I got these lights as my bedside reading lights and they work great. I have had them for only six months so haven't had to change the lamps yet but they came with special tweezers to use for bulb replacement!
It's OK, but needs more angling options

This light is fine but it's fixed in plane. We used them as reading lights for bed and they're really not so great. It works fine and it looks great, it's just not the right solution for us.
looks great, works poopie

How the bloody helld do you change the bloody ballast in this lamp Something went pop accompanied by a minor flash and then zilch. So i swap out the bulbs (T5) and still zilch. Where is the ballast and how do you remove and replace it
What a beauty.....what a disappointment.. where's the parts?
Paulette Stream from Port Orchard WA
I read all the comments and agree to all that includes bulb replacement and removal, great design. I'm not an electrician
Beautiful design, light where you want it

With it's design you can have the perfect lighting at your bedside at the right angle and then put it away where it is completely out of the way.
Gorgeous Piece of Junk

First of all, I agree with the review regarding difficulty of changing the bulb. The bulb blew out after about 2 months of infrequent use. I purchased replacement lights and then attempted to change the bulb. The tool included was simply incapable of doing the job. I ended up taking the bulb out with a pair of needle-nose pliers - they actually fit in fairly easily and there was enough room to grasp only the metal part of the bulb as per the instructions. Replacement wasn't horribly difficult though it took some maneuvering. Turns out the lamp itself was dead. Too bad such a lovely lamp is so very poorly made.
well made light

I got two of these to use as task lights next to bookcases - They can be extended from the wall to browse through a book and folded flat when not in use.

Looks very nice. Perfect light for reading. I bought two of them for above my bed. Just right. You can't tell from the picture but they do stick out of the wall about an inch and a half. It doesn't bother me but it might for some people. [...]
Great reading lamp
RJJ from Chicago, IL
It is a reading lamp essentially - don't expect to light a whole room - that is not the intended purpose.Like another reviewer, I had something 'blow' on one of my two lamps. It is not the transformer but is most likely the ballast, which is a common occurrence with a fluorescent bulb.[...] Great product.

The "bronze" is very deep, almost black.
