Major Quality Drop

Steve from CA

I bought this machine about 7-years ago....it served me well until the power switch started shorting out. My e-mails to Breville were answered only with silence so I purchased a second unit last year. The difference in the current units and the unit I had that was about 8-years old are dramatic; the new unit is about half the weight of the old unit (cheaper pumps?), the center switch is mushy, but worst of all the unit is annoyingly loud. It vibrates like a Model T....the water resevoir rattles and the noise of the pump is really rediculous...... clearly Breville has cheapened their units...yes the price was a bit less, but the obnoxious noise the new units make is really bad. I would no longer receommend this machine. NO WAY!

Breville Duo-Temp Espresso Machine

nathalie from glendale, CA– Verified Buyer

Love this machine. Makes a wonderful cup of espresso. I also appreciate that there are no plastic components for the hot water to pass through internally.

It has one little quirk; when you remove the water tank refill, there is a little mechanism or lever that drops down (it's supposed to) but you have to wiggle the tank just so so you don't trap it. A little annoying as it happens often, but I would still buy this again.

About the Manufacturer

At the 1932 Melbourne Cup, Bill O’Brien and Harry Norville, decided to invest their funds into something they’d long dreamt of and started Breville Radio. The word Breville is a derivative of these founder’s names. But by the late 50’s, television had all but replaced the radio, and as such Breville’s focus turned to small appliances. To this day, Breville's products range from espresso machines and coffee makers, to blenders, toasters, grills, woks, and rice cookers. The unique combination of genuine innovation and beautiful design has resonated strongly with U.S. consumers. From New Zealand to the UK, toasted sandwiches are still affectionately called Brevilles, so much so that the term has been added to the Australian dictionary. The sandwich maker’s success was soon followed by the iconic Kitchen Wizz food processor, together with a range of high-performances.
