Very Solid but Darker than the Picture

First off, this is a wonderful table. It is strong and sturdy with clean lines. Very nice to look at. With white chairs, it makes for an impressive dining room. However...
Because it is veneer you can see differences in the wood grain in several places. A runner and/or centerpiece is helpful to distract the eye.
The mfg almost over-sanded certain areas to make them conform to the overall piece. To the naked eye, you wouldn't notice, but if you're admiring the table, it is one of the imperfections you pick up, as if small areas were not glossed after sanding in the lamination process.
The pull-out extension does not line up so we have to be very careful when having large dinner parties, so as not to scratch the veneer when pushing it closed.
For the price, it's a quality table. We expected to spend $5K on a table/chairs for our remodel but I feel very good about the Astor purchase and saving a bit of the budget.
