René Holten (1961 - )

Holten (1961) made his first design for Artifort û the DoDo - in 1997. It immediately won the prize for Best Dutch Furniture Design 1998. Since then Holten has made a major impression on Artifort's collection. He likes the company's seating for its sober, clear designs. Holten holds a degree from the Design Academy in Eindhoven, among others.

The Libel Chair fits perfectly in the Artifort furniture design tradition. This chair was designed as a comfortable seating element that can be used as a chair with a four-leg base, but also has the option of adding a connecting piece so that multiple chairs create a row. By means of a metal connection and hinge, inside and outside curves can be made. Some of the chairs feature upholstered arms or table tops, so whatever environment they are placed in, they are completely functional and comfortable. The shell is a curved seat and back in foam.
