Abi Alice is a Sydney-based artist and designer whose practice spans many disciplines. Alice initially studied silver-smithing, creating tableware and jewelry, and later undertook her Masters pursuing photography and painting. Mathematics, form, color geometry, folding and abstraction are frequently explored in Alice's work. Currently her practice is predominantly focused on photography, painting and product design. She approaches her design work from an artistic point of view. In many instances her geometric paintings become the foundation for her product design.

The "Resonance" Fruit Holder reflects designer Abi Alice's affinity for geometry and mathematics. Alice uses the geometry inherent in her designs and pictures to create three-dimensional sculptural objects. Originally an artistic drawing, the "Resonance" Fruit Holder was eventually transformed into a three-dimensional object by cutting, bending and curving steel sheet. The same geometric base, with its poetic properties, can be used to produce three different results: a drawing, a painting and an object. The name "Resonance" is derived from her conviction that when the final composition is harmonious, it is like a melodious sound resonating in the air.
