About the Designers

Steven Blaess

Steven Blaess  

Steven Blaess lived his childhood travelling with his family throughout Southern Australia. After graduating with a Bachelor of Design in Human Environments from the University of South Australia in 1994, he designed commercial offices interiors and furniture in Hong Kong and worked with some of Australia's architecture, interior and graphic design companies. Since 1999, Steven has worked with manufacturing companies in Europe such as Artemide, Edra, iGuzzini lighting, Fratelli Guzzini. His works of architecture, interior and industrial design are published in international design publications and exhibited in Milan, Paris, Berlin, London, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney. Steven made final selection for his Torch Design Proposal for Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

LPWK

LPWK Italy 

Born in Bergamo, Italy, Laura Polinoro graduated in Drama Art and Music Studies in Bologna. Her first job was in the field of contemporary dance as art director and costume and set designer. Later she undertook research at the Domus Academy in Milan. From 1990 to 1998 she was in charge of the Centro Studi Alessi, where she operated as meta-project designer and art director, coordinating workshops both in-house and in association with various universities and design institutes the world over. She was also involved in publishing and communications activities. Items which entered production in that period are identified with the acronym ôCSAö. Since 2004 products overseen by Ms. Polinoro have been identified with the letters "LPWK"

About the Manufacturer

Alessi's intention, from the beginning, was to be highly innovative and ready to experiment with cookware. With this in mind, the Alessi family venture explored new materials and novel design in becoming one of the finest and most well-known contemporary cookware brands. Alessi prides itself on its unique collaboration with designers and architects to produce beautiful, quality cookware. Among some of the best known of the Alessi's products are Richard Sapper's kettle with a two-tone whistle, Michael Graves' kettle with bird shaped whistle, and Philippe Starck's Juicy Salif citrus squeezer.
