About the Designers
Richard SapperRichard Sapper Germany (1932 - )

Richard Sapper (born 1932 in Munich) is a German industrial designer. He received a Compasso d'Oro industrial design award in 1959. Sapper partnered with Italian designer Marco Zanuso and were hired in 1959 as consultants to Brionvega, an Italian company trying to produce stylish electronics that would compete with products manufactured in Japan and Germany. They designed a series of radios and televisions that became enduring icons of an aesthetic known as techno-functionalism. One of their more notable designs was the rounded, compact and portable Doney 14 (1962), the first television to feature completely transistorized construction. Using the aesthetic of sculptural minimalism, the pair designed the compact folding Grillo telephone for Siemens and Italtel in 1965. The Grillo was one of the first telephones to put the dial and the earpiece on the same unit, and today is a featured display at New York's Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).

Michel TroisgrosMichel Troisgros France (1958 - )

Michel, the son of Pierre Troisgros, was born on 2 April 1958 at Roanne. Today he runs the business on his own. He studied at Grenoble from 1974 to 1982, and met his future wife Marie-Pierre there when he was 16 years old. They toured the world to learn the art of cooking from various master chefs: Fr?dy Girardet in Lausanne, Taillevent in Paris, Michel Gu?rard in New York and many others in Brussels, San Francisco, London, and Tokyo.

Pierre TroisgrosPierre Troisgros France (1926 - )

Born December 2, 1926 in Chalon-sur-Sa?ne, is a French restaurateur, best known for his restaurant Fr?res Troisgros. Pierre Troisgros and his brother Jean Troisgros completed an apprenticeship with renowned top chefs in Paris. In 1955, the country restaurant of Pierre and Jean Troisgros won the first Michelin star. Within ten years, it became the most popular restaurant in the region and soon it was one of the best known in France. In 1965, the restaurant, now known as the Fr?res Troisgros, got the second star, and, in 1968, the third star. In 1972, the brothers were awarded by critics of the Gault Millau with the title "Best Restaurant in the World" award.
