About the Designer
Andrea Morgante Italy (1972 - )
Andrea Morgante was born in Milan in 1972. After a degree in Architecture he moved to London in 1997, where he initially collaborated with RMJM. In 2011 he joined Future Systems, where in 2006 he became Associate Director, working closely alogside Jan Kaplicky for nearly 8 years: amongst many projects Selfridges in Birmingham, numerous international competitions, product design and eventually he will lead the design for the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena, directing its completion on site after Kaplicky's death in 2009. In 2008 he collaborated with Ross Lovegrove, leading several sustainable architetural schemes. In 2009 established Shiro Studio in London. In his work in Architecture and Product Design is characterized by a coherent approach, often influenced by his long term passions for anatomy, digital fabrications, botany, aeronautics and philosophy.
About the Manufacturer
Alessi's intention, from the beginning, was to be highly innovative and ready to experiment with cookware. With this in mind, the Alessi family venture explored new materials and novel design in becoming one of the finest and most well-known contemporary cookware brands. Alessi prides itself on its unique collaboration with designers and architects to produce beautiful, quality cookware. Among some of the best known of the Alessi's products are Richard Sapper's kettle with a two-tone whistle, Michael Graves' kettle with bird shaped whistle, and Philippe Starck's Juicy Salif citrus squeezer.
