Alessi Tripod Trivet Sculpture

The Tripod Trivet, which at first sight may seem like an item of jewelry, is in fact a trivet for hot pans and dishes. Devised to dangle from a kitchen hook, it can be taken down and thrown like dice onto the dining table. Once a suitable position has been found for the article upon the table it transforms into a prop for boiling saucepans, scorching oven trays or hot serving dishes. Decorative and functional, this trivet will make a striking statement on your table!

About the Designers

Gabriele Chiave

Gabriele Chiave France

Gabriele Chiave was born in Metz. Two years later he moved with his family, spending 4 months in Dakar, 5 in Caracas, 1 in Buenos Aires, 3 in Rome (where he completed his higher secondary education) and then 8 years in Milan where he studied Industrial Design at IED and began working with a number of design studios, including Syn design, Fabio Rotella, and Lorenza Bozzoli. He participated and exhibited in projects such as Emergency, Rotari, Epson, and Toshiba. From 2004 to 2006 he worked with Marc Sadler at the Ideal Standard European Research Centre, and he worked with many other companies. In the same period he was involved in and provided assistance for 6 lpwk/alessi workshops, which began in 2003 and are still being run. He has worked freelance for clients and customers in the design field since 2006. He has lived in Amsterdam since early 2007.

Laura Polinoro

Laura Polinoro Born in Bergamo, she graduated in Art and Communication at DAMS in Bologna. She started working in the field of contemporary dance, looking after the artistic coordination, costumes and scenery; afterwards she became a researcher at the Domus Academy. Laura has been the head of the Alessi Study Centre (“CSA”) since 1990, acting as metaproject designer and art director. She brought to Alessi the semiological intuition and training she'd acquired from the semiologists Eco and Fabbri. With Laura, Alessi introduced disciplines until that point entirely foreign to its operations, such as anthropology and semiotics, and began the difficult process of extricating itself from the rhetorical swamp in which certain schools of Italian design had become accustomed to wallowing. The metaprojects she has been involved with for the CSA include the “Family Follow Fiction” collection, the “Creole Memory Container” project and the “Biological” project (leading to the creation of many objects now included in the design collections at the MOMA in New York, the Groninger Museum in Groningen, the MAK in Frankfurt, the Museu d'Arts Decoratives de Barcelona and the Museum Fur Gestaltung in Zurich). Since 2000 the CSA no longer exists as a physical entity, its identity having transmogrified into a freer, more virtual realm of design research and contact with the world of emerging international design, run by Laura Polinaro as an independent consultant. Afterwards she set up the “Laura Polinoro Workshop”, where she organizes workshops with innumerous designers, working on a large variety of briefings, regarding the different businesses realities, having as a goal an innovative product design. The projects that are put into production afterwards are identified with the initials “LPWK”.

About the Manufacturer

Alessi's intention, from the beginning, was to be highly innovative and ready to experiment with cookware. With this in mind, the Alessi family venture explored new materials and novel design in becoming one of the finest and most well-known contemporary cookware brands. Alessi prides itself on its unique collaboration with designers and architects to produce beautiful, quality cookware. Among some of the best known of the Alessi's products are Richard Sapper's kettle with a two-tone whistle, Michael Graves' kettle with bird shaped whistle, and Philippe Starck's Juicy Salif citrus squeezer.

Seems so obvious that these would elevate a hot pan or plate and protect your counter or table top. Really cool, they adjust on the attached chain to fit the size needed. If you are into design, what else would you use?
