About the Designer

Eero Aarnio Finland (1932 - )

Born in 1932, acclaimed Finnish designer Eero Aarnio changed the face of industrial design through his groundbreaking use of plastic. The Pastil Chair, reminiscent of a bright piece of candy, is an example of his highly innovative vision. The New York Times described the Pastil Chair and the iconic Ball Chair as "the most comfortable forms to hold up the human body." With its smooth fiberglass body and perfectly contoured seat, you can showcase this striking piece anywhere inside or outside your home for practical comfort as well as maximum visual impact.

The Tipi is a humorous, light-hearted seat that, like the Pony, challenges widely held assumptions about what a seat should be. What Aarnio said of the Pony holds equally true for the Tipi: "A chair is a chair, is a chair, is a chair ... but a seat does not necessarily have to be a chair."

The Tipi features sturdy construction with a soft exterior. It consists of a metal frame around which molded foam is affixed and then topped with highly durable Tonus 3 fabric, a stretchable wool blend. The result is a seat that provides stable support with comfortable upholstery

The round, inviting shapes of the Tipi, coupled with its brightly colored feet, make it a wonderful, whimsical addition to any room. Choose from six fabric colors to match your Tipi perfectly to its surroundings
